Healing in Medicine:

A Trauma-Informed Wellness Experience for Women in Medicine
May 14–17, 2026

 

Purpose

This scholarship application is designed to support a resident, early-career physician, or underrepresented physician in attending Healing in Medicine: A Trauma-Informed Wellness Experience for Women in Medicine (May 14–17, 2026). This retreat was created to offer protected space for rest, processing, and nervous-system–informed healing for women in medicine who carry significant emotional and professional load, particularly those facing financial or systemic barriers to access.

 

Eligibility

Applicants must meet at least one of the following criteria:

  • Current medical resident or fellow
  • Early-career physician (within 10 years of completing training)
  • Physician who identifies as underrepresented in medicine (URM)

What the Scholarship Covers

The selected recipient will receive:

  • Full retreat registration
  • Resort fees
  • Most meals during the retreat (there is a $175 resort credit that may cover the rest)
  • Retreat materials and programming

Please note: The recipient is responsible for arranging and covering their own airfare and transportation to and from the retreat location.

2. Short Reflection Questions

(Responses may be brief, 1 paragraph each)

  • What drew you to apply for this retreat?
  • In what ways have stress, burnout, or vicarious trauma shown up for you during training
    Or early practice?
  • What would having protected space for rest, reflection, and trauma-informed support
    mean for you at this stage of your career?
  • What barriers, visible or invisible, have made rest or support harder to access in your
    medical career?
  • What do you hope to take back into your life or practice after the retreat?

3. Commitment Statements

Applicants must confirm:

  • Availability to attend the full retreat from May 14–17, 2026
  • Willingness to participate fully in group sessions and trauma-informed experiences
  • Ability to pay for flight and transportation to and from the retreat space

Selection Process

Applications will be reviewed with care and attention to:

  • Alignment with the retreat’s trauma-informed and restorative focus
  • Stage of training or practice
  • Demonstrated need and potential benefit
  • Commitment to presence, safety, and participation

Final selection is made by the retreat facilitator to support group cohesion and a safe, supportive healing environment.

Timeline

  • Application deadline: March 20, 2026
  • Recipient notification: April 3, 2026

Winner will be notified of the outcome by April 3rd , 2026

All application materials are confidential and reviewed with respect. There is no expectation to disclose more than feels safe. This scholarship exists because healing, rest, and support should not be privileges reserved for a few but resources accessible to everyone.
